Ex Sammlung Sheik Saud al Thani, erworben bei Tradart am 31.03.2011. Ex NFA IX, 1980, Los Nr. 220. Man nimmt an, daß sich die Prägestätten der Eleer in Olympia befanden. Die erste war wohl mit dem dortigen Zeustempel verbunden, ihre Motive wie der Adler beziehen sich weitestgehend auf den Göttervater, später wird auch Zeus selbst dargestellt. Einige Forscher sprechen sich dagegen dafür aus, daß die Münzen von Elis in der gleichnamigen Hauptstadt geprägt wurden.
