Ex NFA Liste 26, 1983, Los Nr. 70. Constantinus I. führte als neue Goldmünze den Solidus zu 1/72 Pfund ein. Dieser sollte sich über Jahrhunderte weg als sehr "solide" erweisen und bis in byzantinische Zeit Bestand haben. Unter anderem hat das deutsche Wort Sold hier seinen Ursprung (vgl. auch ital. soldi=Geld). Legende und Darstellung der Rs. beziehen sich wohl auf die Erfolge des Constantinus im Kampf gegen seinen Thronrivalen Maxentius.
