Seit den frühen 1980er Jahren in deutschem Privatbesitz. Die Bedeutung von Damastion lag in seinen reichen Silberressourcen. Seine Münzen sind oft von geringer künstlerischer Qualität und mit wenig Sorgfalt geprägt. Ihre Seltenheit resultiert möglicherweise daraus, daß sie in der Antike als eine Art Bullionmünzen angesehen und daher oft wieder eingeschmolzen wurden.
