Ex GM 50, 1990, Los Nr. 700. Ex NAC 24, 2002, Los Nr. 273. Die antike Bezeichnung dieses sehr seltenen Goldnominals ist nicht überliefert. Constantinus ersetzte den Aureus zu 1/60 des römischen Pfundes durch den Solidus zu 1/72 Pfund (ca. 4,5 g.) oder 4 Scripula (1/288 Pfund). Die Teilstücke könnten also etwa 1/3 des alten, leicht reduzierten Aureus darstellen oder 3/8 des neuen Solidus. Das mag zunächst ungewöhnlich erscheinen, aber die neue constantinische Silbermünze, die Siliqua zu 1/96 Pfund oder 3 Scripula, wiegt genau das Doppelte. Zur Rs. vgl. Los Nr. 2164.
