Ex Auktion 197 Gerhard Hirsch Nachfolger, München, 27. XI. 1997, Los 1071. Ludwig IV. war der erste Wittelsbacher, der die Kaiserwürde erringen konnte. Seine Königswahl fand statt am 20. Oktober 1314, mit gerade einmal einer Stimme Mehrheit. Die Kaiserkrönung am 17. Januar 1328 ließ er selber inszenieren. In zweiter Ehe mit Margarethe von Holland verheiratet, fielen ihm weite Gebiete in den Niederlanden zu. Am 11. Oktober 1347 starb er an einem Jagdunfall. Die goldenen Chaise d'or ließ er in Antwerpen prägen durch Hilfslieferungen aus England.
